Children With Cancer UK 12for12 Event

Today is World Cancer Day and Team PBV’s Martyn has chosen to raise awareness by taking part in Children with Cancer UK’s 12for12 event. This virtual challenge involves running, jogging or walking 12k to support the 12 children diagnosed with cancer in the UK every day.

Not only will the donations contribute towards the charity’s vital research to save the lives of children with cancer and keep their families together – they will also fund the various services available to support families during treatment and beyond.

Martyn completed his 12k run early this morning and marked it as the start of his year-long challenge to regain fitness and lose weight following a heart scare at the beginning of last year. Although previously a sub 3 marathoner, he had not run further than 5k since September 2019. This wonderful event gave him the inspiration he needed to start building his mileage back up and is looking forward to continuing his journey towards a half marathon we will be involved in later this year.

Although official registration for 12for12 has now closed, there is still plenty of the day (and week!) left for you to get involved whenever you can. You can complete your 12k anywhere – from your favourite park to your local gym – and simply donate £12 to the main Children with Cancer UK donation page. Together we can make a difference.

We’re very proud to support Children With Cancer UK on an ongoing basis through our CWCUK Personal Best Vests which can be customised with any event completed for the charity – the perfect keepsake to mark your fundraising achievements.
